ESN is seeking an AmeriCorps VISTA service member to serve as Project Coordinator on upcoming Moving Forward developments in the state of Indiana. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) service members support organizations across the nation to help eradicate poverty. These members earn a modest living allowance equivalent to the income level of the communities in which they serve. VISTAs also have access to professional development training and are eligible to earn federal non-competitive eligibility, which gives them an advantage in the federal hiring process. VISTAs can also choose between a Segal Education Award to pay for various educational expenses or a $1,500 stipend at the end of service.
The ESN Project Coordinator will support six developments in Indiana. The VISTA will be based in ESN’s Indianapolis offices and will be expected to travel to the various Moving Forward communities as needed. The VISTA will be tasked with the following:
- Creating a master timeline for each development to meet stage goals for design, funding and construction; ensure developments are meeting requirements of Moving Forward program;
- Conducting community outreach by working with local government, community agencies, neighborhoods, and other local stakeholders to create consensus around maximizing the potential for wrap-around services for residents of the developments;
- Coordinating meetings with developer teams and local stakeholders for regular communication and to gain community engagement in the development process; and
- Identifying educational services, employment services, and funding opportunities to further support the Moving Forward developments in the long-term.
