ESN Seeking Two AmeriCorps VISTA Service Members for Moving Forward Project

ESN is seeking two AmeriCorps VISTA service members to serve as Project Coordinators on several Moving Forward developments across the state of Indiana. AmeriCorps VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) service members support organizations across the nation to help eradicate poverty. These members earn a modest living allowance equivalent to the income level of the communities in which they serve. VISTAs also have access to professional development training and are eligible to earn federal non-competitive eligibility, which gives them an advantage in the federal hiring process. VISTAs can also choose between a Segal Education Award to pay for various educational expenses or a $1,500 stipend at the end of service.

Each ESN Project Coordinator will support two developments each: one will serve the East Chicago, Ind. community and the other will support Indianapolis/Lafayette. Those chosen to serve in these roles will be tasked with the following:

  • Creating a master timeline for each development to meet stage goals for design, funding and construction; ensure developments are meeting requirements of Moving Forward program;
  • Conducting community outreach by working with local government, community agencies, neighborhoods, and other local stakeholders to create consensus around maximizing the potential for wrap-around services for residents of the developments;
  • Coordinating meetings with developer teams and local stakeholders for regular communication and to gain community engagement in the development process; and
  • Identifying educational services, employment services, and funding opportunities to further support the Moving Forward developments in the long-term.
