Transportation Electrification & Mobility-as-a-Service

Collaborative Project

“Mobility-as-a-service”, or “MaaS”, integrates transportation modes and solutions such as carsharing, ride-hailing, scooter sharing, micro-transit, and others into a single, on-demand mobility service that charges rates based on dynamic factors such as mode, demand, passenger count, and distance traveled.

Led by Energy Systems Network (ESN), the Electrification And Mobility As A Service (MaaS) project is developing and piloting a turnkey package of technologies, services, and business models to enable communities to cost-effectively deploy electrified transport, reduce emissions and costs, and altogether enhance ridership and revenue.  While first deployed within select Indiana communities and/or school districts, this MaaS solution will be developed for the global market, thus positioning Indiana companies and operators as innovation leaders.

Objectives

Develop and deploy financial models and integrative mobility platforms to facilitate cost-effective electric bus deployment, multi-modal travel, and mobility within select Indiana communities, while demonstrating their broader market applicability.

Benefits

Reduced emissions, improved affordability, greater mobility, and an improved environment in Indiana and beyond.

Impact

Pioneering groundbreaking smart mobility models and technologies that reduce the need for single-occupancy vehicle ownership and use.
