Discovery Park District Innovation Workshop

Encompassing more than 200+ acres of development and over $1 billion of investment, Discovery Park District (DPD) is set to expand its sense of place to include additional research capabilities and infrastructure, corporate offices, mixed use housing, single family homes, hotel and meeting areas, as well as restaurants, retail, and public spaces – all on the Purdue University campus over the next decade. More than just buildings, the vision for this place is to create a “smart community” that will attract faculty, students, residents, partners, and stakeholders who want to be a part of curating something unique. To achieve this vision, the Purdue Research Foundation hosted a two-day event in October 2018, facilitated by ESN.

Objectives

Gather top subject matter experts from around the country in five categories: built environment, mobility, systems integration, energy and utilities, and innovation and economic development.

Benefits

The envisioned “smart community” will hopefully pave the way as a model for future developments that integrates technology in a way that affects our society for the better.

Impact

The group worked through countless, innovative ideas to create a strategy for the future of Discovery Park District.
