Energy Systems Network (ESN) is a non-profit 501(c)6 organization established in April 2009 as a subsidiary of Central Indiana Corporate Partnership (CICP). CICP – in collaboration with industry, state officials and community leaders – identified a need to develop the energy technology sector in the state with an effort to promote Indiana’s manufacturing and research capabilities while bringing new jobs and investment to the state.
Headquartered in Indianapolis, Ind., ESN engages internationally with industry, academia, non-profits and public agencies to collaboratively address – across traditional industry boundaries – the world’s toughest energy challenges. This consortium of organizations and institutions allows us to foster and develop pilot projects, commercialization opportunities, startups, and technological innovation to solve the challenges we face across the energy ecosystem – from transportation and built environment to generation and transmission.
To date, ESN has launched four major projects focused on dramatically reducing emissions and fuel consumption of heavy trucks (Hoosier Heavy Hybrid Partnership); allowing for an all-electric commute powered by a smart utility grid (Project Plug-IN); supplying our military bases with reliable homegrown energy (MicroGreen); and creating a single point of access for battery research, development, testing and commercialization (Battery Innovation Center).
